Become a volunteer program leader

Provide mentorship to first and second year Kinesiology students

Gain leadership experience

About the program

The Faculty of Kinesiology is excited to launch the Kin Peer Connections program for the 2021-2022 academic year. We are looking for approximately 25 volunteer program leaders. If you are an undergrad in your fourth year+ or a graduate student who completed an undergrad degree in the faculty, we have a fantastic leadership opportunity for you.

The objectives of this program are to provide peer-to-peer mentorship for first- and second-year students in a small group setting. The aim is to help create a sense of belonging and community as we return to in-person learning.

As a Kin Peer Connections Leader, you will

  • Organize and facilitate a monthly group meeting between September and April for approximately 20 undergrad students. Meetings will be in-person or held virtually and are meant to be relatively informal, creating conversation in a safe space about students’ experiences in Kinesiology.
  • Participate in a three-hour training session, mid- to late-August, focused on facilitating and mentoring an inclusive and psychologically safe space.
  • Sign a Letter of Agreement to finalize involvement in the program.
  • Participate in a group check-in with Dr. William Bridel, associate dean academic, prior to the fall term break, at the end of the fall term, prior to winter term break, and again at the end of the term/year
