Research


The CVPA has provided services and has been involved in many projects related to the improvement of athlete performances, including:

  • National Performance Database ProjectA partnership with Own The Podium for the creation of a web-based National Performance Database gaining insight on competition data. The analysis of this information will be used by Podium Canada to build strategies going into the 2010 Olympic Games.
  • Olympic Oval Project: A service provider to The Olympic Oval at the University of Calgary for the video recording and analysis of Olympic and developmental athlete techniques.
  • Performance Analysis Curriculum Project: Project with Own The Podium and the Canadian Coaching Association for the creation of training manual and curriculum related to analysis of athlete performance for the education of Canadian coaches and technical support staff.
  • RIVR Systems Projects: Providing services to speed skating associations of Canada and the US for the use of the Referee Instant Video Replay (RIVR) system. This system provides immediate video replay for referee’s to make informed decisions during short track speedskating events.
  • Other Teams Supported: Other performance analysis services and resources to teams including Luge Canada, Bobsleigh/Skeleton Canada, Waterpolo Canada, Squash Canada and Paralympic Sports.
