Evaluating an Ice-Skating Program for Children with ID
This project is focused on designing, implementing and evaluating an 8-week ice skating program for children with intellectual disabilities (ID). Children with ID between the ages of 6 and 11 will be invited to participate in this study, where they will be paired up in a one-to-one ratio with an ice skating coach. The program will focus not only on skating, but also on physical literacy, building confidence, developing friendships, and creating a positive experience for each child.

  Study Measures and Objectives
- The primary objective of this research study is to:
Assess the feasibility and acceptability of an ice-skating program designed for youth (ages 6 to 11) with intellectual disabilities.
- The secondary objective is to measure changes related to - perceived physical literacy components
- well-being
- self-confidence, and
- interpersonal skills.
 - To accomplish this, we will use PLC-Quest, conduct semi-structured interviews with a drawing component, and evaluate the children’s ice-skating skills.
