Biography

Dr Patricia Doyle-Baker completed her graduate training at Loma Linda University, School of Public Health in California, where she received her doctor of public health (Dr PH) specializing in Health Education/Epidemiology and her PhD investigating exercise interventions in chronic disease with a patient population from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Calgary (Rheumatology -Dr. Liam Martin's lab group)). Prior to this, she graduated from the University of Victoria in B.C. with her master's in exercise physiology/sports science and a B.Sc. in Human Performance/Biochemistry. Before joining the University of Calgary, Dr DB was co-owner of a rehabilitation clinic in Victoria and travelled extensively with national teams as a sports scientist /certified exercise physiologist (CSEP-CEP). As a full professor in the Faculty of Kinesiology (currently Associate Dean of Grad) and an adjunct in the School of Architecture, Planning, and Landscape, she has embraced many roles at the University of Calgary. Dr Doyle-Baker has been instrumental in implementing undergraduate and graduate academic program revisions and fostering cross-disciplinary interactions across several university faculties. She has pursued a research career in health biomarkers across different populations with a focus on female athletes and the menstrual cycle and continues to promote educational and research collaborations between exercise sciences, and medicine for health promotion. Dr DB has served on several boards, including as the Board Chair of West Island College, President of the Alberta Public Health Association, and a Board Director of the Gray Family YMCA. She is passionate about translating basic science into value for human health and society and is a sought-after speaker, mentor, and writer in the health field. She is an alpine ski racer coach and her philosophy is “live it to lead it.”
