Millions of microbes reside in the gastrointestinal tract, referred to as gut microbiota. It’s been demonstrated that gut microbiota regulates immune response, metabolism and neural disorders. Gut microbiota can regulate host behavior via the gut-brain axis. Mu's research aims to explore the role of gut microbiota in neurological disorder diseases with the possibility to treat diseases by microbiota manipulation. He is with the Shearer Research Group.
